Water is everywhere on Earth. About seventy percent of the surface of the Earth is covered by water.
Water is in the air, on the land, between the rocks, and in every living thing. Water, in its purest form, is the compound H2O. There are hydrogen (H) and oxygen.

Water keeps going around and around and around and around in what we call the "Water Cycle".
This cycle is made up of a few main parts:
- evaporation: when the sun heats up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean and turns it into water vapour and it goes into the air.
- condensation: Water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds
- precipitation: when the clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail or snow.
- collection:When water falls, it falls back in the oceans, lakes or rivers or on land. When it ends up on land, it becomes part of the “ground water” that plants and animals use to drink or it may run over the soil and go to the oceans, lakes or rivers, again!
